Legalization of Cannabis in Illinois

Illinois recently turned out to be the Eleventh and freshly state to enact marijuana and also the first state in which their parliament officially endorsed its selling.

The bill was formally signed into law on Tuesday by the state governor, J.B. Pritzker, in whom he advocated for during his campaign in the year 2018. The state will now become the first to enact a complete adult-use marijuana market by its legislature which has sited what seems to promote the industry in Illinois.  This will also help to bring back the beauty of the communities in which drugs through the war had been emaciated.

Beginning from the first day of the year 2020, the inhabitants of the state that are above the age of 21 will be permitted to hold up to thirty grams of cannabis, and adult invitees will also be given the permission up to 15 grams.  Patients of Medical marijuana will be given the chance to cultivate like five plants as a homegrown. However, cultivating at home for public use will not be permitted. Tax charges of 10% on the products of below 35% THC, charges of 25% on more than 35% THC  and  20% on cannabis combine products.

However, at the federal level, the use of Marijuana is still prohibited, which is categorized as a substance of no medical value and for is abuse. The other ten states including Washington, DC, have legalized it.  The other states aside Vermont and at this moment Illinois did their legalization through ballot initiatives. However, Vermont and DC have not yet permitted sales.

Many other states, together with New Jersey and New York have considered it to legalize it this year through their legislatures, but the plans have not been successful so far regardless of the backing from their governors.

Those that have been advocating for the legalization claim that it jettisons the harms of marijuana prescription:  from a large number of arrests all over the US, the racial discrepancies attach to the arrests and the several billions of dollars that had been wasted by its illegality through the black market.

The opposition, however, asserts that legalization will allow a massive marijuana industry that will market the drug recklessly. They make mention of the experiences of America’s about the tobacco and alcohol industries specifically, which have put up their economic realms mainly on some of the substantial users of their products. This could lead to many people using cannabis, even if it results in undesirable health concerns. Base on the Marijuana Policy Project, up to 770,000 cases that are associated with cannabis are suitable for extirpating.

The bill’s principal advocate, Democratic state Senator. Senator Heather Steans, likewise claimed on Tuesday that there would be an improvement on the safety of Illinois through the supply of safe products and provision of worthy public education for the children. The law also provides the principle of social justice that will offer grants and loans to sectional cannabis business holders.

From a young age, I was always curious about the world around me. I loved exploring nature and learning about different plants and their medicinal properties. Little did I know that this curiosity would lead me down a path of becoming an expert in cannabis research and writing. Growing up in a small town, I was always fascinated by the stories my grandfather would tell me about his experiences with cannabis. He would talk about how it helped him manage his chronic pain and how it brought him a sense of peace and relaxation. These stories stayed with me and sparked my interest in the plant. After completing my undergraduate degree in biology, I decided to pursue a master's degree in cannabis research. During my studies, I discovered that cannabis had been used for thousands of years for medicinal purposes, but had been demonized in the 20th century due to political and social factors. I am grateful for the curiosity and passion that led me to become an expert in cannabis research and writing. I hope that my work has helped to change the negative perception of cannabis and has brought awareness to its potential benefits for all.
