Since January 1, 2020, marijuana has been legal in Illinois for all individuals 21 years or older, and we are already seeing changes in how employers are responding to the new law. This workshop will help you understand how Illinois’ Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act—as well as Illinois’ medical marijuana laws—have impacted employers in the state. We will discuss the legal and practical implications of:

• Drug-free workplace policies
• Testing for marijuana
• Disciplining employees who shows up to work impaired
• Handling medical accommodations for employees who are prescribed marijuana

Learn about these topics and more at this complimentary information session, hosted by Business & Career Services, Inc., at the North Suburban Cook American Job Center and presented by Casey Leech, an attorney in the Chicago office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Casey has previously presented on the impact of marijuana in the workplace and has co-authored articles on the legalization of recreational marijuana in Illinois. His practice focuses on representing employers in workplace law matters, including advice and counseling.
