Even though adult use of recreational cannabis will be legalized on Jan 1st here in Illinois, other states like Colorado, California, Michigan have shown that the dispensaries have a hard time accommodating the needs.

1. Home Grow: You are legally allowed to grow your own medicine (up to 5 plants) at home with your medical cannabis card.
2. Reserved products and quantity: Dispensaries are required to keep a portion of their inventory and certain products set aside for patients with a medical card.
3. Lower prices: Under the proposed legislation recreational cannabis users will be subject to hefty taxes on their purchases. Medical cannabis patients will, however, be exempt from these taxes.

Many municipalities have already opted out of having recreational cannabis dispensaries so they may be hard to find even if they do have stock.
