WHAT IS CBN AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?
The cannabis plant (Kanabinol) has long been considered a non-essential by-product of old cannabis. Unlike THC or CBD, which initially develops as acids at the start of a plant’s life, CBN is then produced. Before examining the specific conditions required for the production of CBN, we provide a brief overview of the reasons why the compound caught the attention of researchers.
Initial studies have shown that anecdotal reports have claimed for years that CBN has the potential to be a powerful but natural sedative. While many smaller studies indicate that the talent for drugs goes further, further studies are still in their infancy. Fortunately, CBN can also have a good synergy with CBD, which opens up the possibility of many treatment options.
THERE ARE MAJOR DIFFERENCES BETWEEN CBD AND CBN
Most cannabis interacts with endocannabinoid receptors (ECS). These compounds can cause a wide range of biological effects. Although CBD and CBN can have a similar genetic structure, CBD indirectly influences our ECS through many types of receptors, while CBN takes a more direct approach.
CBN not only has a strong affinity for CB2 receptors, but also a partial affection for CB1 receptors, similar to the most famous hemp in the types of cannabis: THC. There is a good reason why the two compounds have common characteristics: without THC, you would not have CBN.
Instead of being the result of enzymes that bind to acid, CBN lags behind in the development of hemp. Hemp is very volatile and continues to change when exposed to various environmental factors. There are two ways to end CBN. The first is to convert THCA (raw THC) to CBNA and destroy it over time. Subsequently, when heat is used, the additional carbonyl molecule (“A”) is removed. The alternative is to worsen the THCA (THC) already activated over time. However, the result is the CBN hemp in question.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CBD AND THC?
CBN can be started as THC, but you won’t get high
It’s a natural assumption: if CBN can only be produced when THC progresses, most people assume that it has comparable properties. Fortunately, CBN has no psychological effect and, unlike THC, it is not listed in the United Nations Drug Convention or the Psychotropic Substance Agreement. This means that researchers can access drugs more easily: the good news about cannabis use is very difficult. Remember that hemp and hemp are often harvested when CBD or THC levels are higher. CBN requires a lot of patience if you want to extract large sums.
We know we have to work on THC before we can produce CBN. We also know that there is a convergence of CB2 receptors (and some CB1 receptors). Given that CBN has CBD and THC properties, but does not elevate you, the next obvious question is: what happens when we consume the compound?
WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM CBN?
Steep Hill Global, one of the largest hemp research companies in the world, suggests that “CBN seems to be a sedative for all hemp”. They also found that very little was needed to achieve a calming effect for 5 to 6 hours. Only 2.5 to 5 mg of CBN was sufficient to achieve “the same level of anesthesia as mild drug pain relievers”.
Their results appear to be consistent with studies in mice. CBN, published in NCBI, has significantly increased rodent sleep time compared to other hemp seeds. In addition to having no major side effects, CBN is an exciting prospect for future treatments.
